Archie Howard Franklin was born March 12, 1907 in Huntington Mills, Pennsylvania, the son of Howard and Catherine Franklin. Other children in the family were Leonard, Ruth, Laura, Myra, Geraldine, Phoebe, and Catherine.
Archie attended the Coughlin High School in Wilkes-Barre, PA. His WWII army enlistment record states his education included four years of college, and that he was, "single, without dependents." He also spent some time during WWII living in Washington D.C. and working for the War Department. (It is noted that he subtracted exactly two years from his age on all of his Army and National Guard records.) Living in New York City during the 1950's, he was a member of the New York National Guard, Btry C633 AAA GunBn.
Archie Franklin died at the Saint Claire Health System on June 27, 1981, at the age of 74. He was buried on Hart Island.
