Evelyn M "Sunny" Kimmons was born 24 Jun 1925 in Fort Meade, Florida, to Edgar Hall Kimmons Jr. and Margaret Vaughn Hancock. Her father, member of a prominent family in Oxford, Mississippi, took an engineering degree at Ole Miss and worked as a Civil Engineer across the South. Her mother, also from a prominent family of landholders and farmers in North Carolina, worked as a seamstress to support Sunny and her older sister Margaret Corrine (Kit) after her marriage to their father ended. Sunny had two half brothers from her mother's first marriage. They grew up with her maternal grandparents and were Edward (Bill) Vaughn Settle (1921-1998) and Thomas (Tom) Settle Hancock (1920-2001), who took his maternal grandparent's surname.
Records indicate Sunny Kimmons was married four times--to an Allison, a Berg, a Grochowski and to Franklin John Dalton. She died mid-August 2004.
