Stanley (originally Stanislaw) Noster was born December 15, 1909, in Lutcza, Poland, the son of Franciszek Noster. In 1930 at the age of 21, Stanley came to the United States, traveling from Danzig, Poland to New York City on the ship Polonia. He stated that his destination was Brunswick, New York, with the intention of working for a farmer- Josef Gerlikom.
On August 20, 1933, Stanley married Josephine Ziobrowski, the daughter of Frank and Amelia Ziobrowski. Josephine was born in New York City in 1915, but her parents, like Stanley, were Polish immigrants. In 1935 the couple had a daughter, Joan, and by 1940 the three of them were living at St. Mark's Place in the East Village of New York City.
In 1936 Stanley petitioned for naturalization, wanting to become a citizen of the United States. At that time he was 26 years old, and was described as "fair, blue eyes, blond hair, 5'8", and 166 pounds." Stanley worked as a counterman in a restaurant. Later, they would live on Emmons Avenue in Brooklyn, and were both still living in Brooklyn prior to their deaths.
On March 8, 1993, after almost sixty years of marriage, both Stanley and Josephine died; and on April 28, 1993 the two of them were laid to rest in the same grave on Hart Island.
