Reddick Hunter was born November 1, 1918 in North Carolina, the son of Joe and Rosa Hunter. 1920 and 1930 censuses show the family living in Enfield, Halifax County, NC. Other children in the household were Vance, Queene, Peggy, Henderson, Sug, Tissie, Moral, Davy, Frank, Nora, Beulah, Lonza and May.
On November 26, 1943 Reddick married Annie Bell Pittman in Halifax County. In 1961, Reddick's daughter Pearline, age 21, married Samuel Hedgepeth, age 40, again in Halifax County. The marriage license identifies her parents as Reddick and Rosetta Hunter of Scotland Neck, NC.
Reddick Hunter died September 28, 1981 at Willoughby Nursing Home in Brooklyn, New York, and was buried on Hart Island.
