Raymond J. Hoban Jr. was born on July 26, 1934, in Buffalo, New York, the son of Raymond J. and Constance Hoban. He had a brother, Ronald D., born in 1940. The family made their home at 50 Belmont Street in Tonawanda, New York. The father was employed in 1940 in "Product Manufacturing", and in 1950 his job was described as "Industrial Engineer-Rayon Production."
Raymond attended Kenmore High School, at least during the years 1950 and 1951. In 1957 he was living on Delaware Avenue in Buffalo, New York, and working as a clerk for the "Texas Company."
Raymond J. Hoban Jr. died on August 9, 2021, at New York Presbyterian/ Lower Manhattan Hospital. On December 3, 2021, he was buried on Hart Island.
