Patrick Joseph Malone was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on the 9th of March 1901 to parents Patrick Joseph Malone Sr., and Mary Anne Doyle Malone. Both parents had immigrated to the United States from Ireland. Sadly, Patrick Malone Sr., caught pheumonia and died just one month before the birth of his namesake.
Patrick's mother, Mary or "Ma Doyle" now had seven children to raise alone. There were four girls in the family: Elizabeth Agnes, Mary Ann (Mamie), Helen (Nellie), and Agnes Louise. Another daughter, Johanne, had died from meningitis when only an infant. Patrick also had two brothers: John Francis and George Leo.
The 1920 U.S. Census shows Patrick, now eighteen, still living in Worcester and working as a cutter in a tannery. In 1924 he married a woman named Florine (maiden name unknown) and relocated to Manhattan where he worked as a salesman in the wholesale grocery business.
On his 1942 WWII Draft Registration Card it is noted that Patrick and Florine live in Parrsippany Lake, Morris, New Jersy and Patrick is now employed with the U.S. Naval Ammunition Depot at Lake Denmark, Morris, New Jersey. It also notes that he is 5 feet 10 inches tall, with gray eyes, brown hair and of light complexion. Other identifying characteristics include an appendix scar and a tattoo on his right forearm.
Patrick Joseph Malone died on the 18th of March 1981 and was buried on Hart Island on the 19th of May 1981.
