Natalia Skryshewska Walko died at Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens. She was 93 years old. She was born in Salinow, Poland, and was of Ukrainian descent. She was a dressmaker. Natalia married Anton "Antin" Nikolaus Walko, and their daughter Nadija "Nadia" Walko was born on July 10, 1942 in Berlin, Germany. Natalia and her family were Catholic. The family was displaced and fled Nazi persecution.
Thirty-four year old Natalia Walko, her husband Antin, also thirty-four, and six year old daughter Nadija set sail on May 24, 1949, from Bremerhaven on board the USAT Muir bound for Boston. They arrived June 2. The Polish family's final destination was a six-story brick tenement at 190 East 3rd Street, New York City. By April 8, 1957 when the US District Court of New York issued her naturalization certificate, she was living in a similar building about a five minute walk to 88 East 3rd Street.
Natalia was preceded in death by her husband. Her daughter Nadia died in 2014. Her granddaughter, Lesia Vera Pupshaw, died on May 9, 2009.
