Marion Hanton

Marion Hanton, Jr. was born 6 June 1931 to parents Marion, Sr. and Lessie Quattlebaum Hanton. Both his parents had long familial histories in the neighboring Orangeburg and Calhoun counties of South Carolina before their move to New York City. The 1950 census shows parents and children Margaret, Marion, Jr., Anthony, Gladys, Helen, Sophie, Shirley and Dennis at 294 E Madison Avenue in NYC. Marion Jr. would later settle in East Harlem, on 112th Street, where he lived--at times with his older sister--Margaret L Hanton Criddle, for many years.
