Ludwig Gaetz (Goetz) was born on December 15, 1896, in Waldshut, Germany. In 1930 Ludwig was a lodger at 131 E. 83rd Street in Manhattan, N.Y. He stated that he was able to read and write, was single, and worked as a pastry baker.
When he registered for the draft in 1942, Ludwig was living at 36 E. 32nd Street in Brooklyn. His friend, Michael McCarthy, who lived at the same address, was listed as "the person who will always know your address."
Ludwig was employed by the Rudy Pastry Shop, at 905 Seneca Avenue in Brooklyn. He was 5'6" tall, weighed 138 pounds, had brown hair, blue eyes, and a light complexion.
Ludwig Goetz died on June 8, 1980, at the Interfaith Medical Center, and was buried on July 29, 1980, on Hart Island.
