Louise Helena Lade was born in Brooklyn, New York on the 6th of September 1894 to parents, Karl Gottlieb Lade and Aügüste (Gussie) Marie Wurkler (or Winkler) Lade. Louise was the oldest of four children: William Paul was born in 1897, and twin sisters Emily and Frieda were born in 1903.
Karl Lade was born in Affalterbach, Württemberg, Germany and emigrated to the United Sates in 1890. On the ship's manifest it states that Karl is a butcher by trade. When Louise was born, her father was employed in a Pork Packing House. By 1910, the family had relocated to Queens and Karl was now the proprietor of a butcher shop. In 1911, Louise travelled with the rest of her family to her parents' homeland in Germany aboard the S.S. Kronprinz Wilhelm.
In 1922, Gussie Lade died and was laid to rest in All Saints Luthern Cemetery in Queens. Karl retired from the butcher business and Louise cared for the home while her three siblings went out to work. Karl Lade died in 1931 and was buried beside Aügüste.
The U.S. Census of 1940 records the four siblings still sharing a home and as the oldest, Louise is now designated as the Head of Household.
Louise Helena Lade died on the 19th of July 1983 in New York and was buried on Hart Island on the 30th of August 1983.
