Kordi Eltman was born November 5, 1915, in Estonia. He was a sailor who worked as a ship's carpenter. In the 1940's and 1950's he traveled on the ships SS Santa Despo, Oropos, Cocle, and Nomarti. Some of the ports he visited were Cuba, Haifa, Bordeaux, Halifax, and of course, New York City. He gave his physical description as 6'0", and 190 pounds.
Kordi Eltman died on January 2, 1982, and is buried on Hart Island.
