Judson Nathaniel Wyatt was born March 16, 1923 in Georgia, the son of Whit and Mamie A. Wyatt. He had older siblings: Mozelle born around 1913, Roberta born 1915, Carrie Loren born around 1917, Helen born around 1919, and Clifford W. born around 1922. Their father Whit was a farmer in Clayton County Georgia. He died on November 28, 1922 of "tuberculosis and flu", approximately four months before Judson was born.
By 1930 Mamie had moved the family to 415 Connelly Street in Atlanta. Mamie supported the family by working as a cook in a restaurant.
Ten years later they had moved to Woodward Avenue SE. Mamie continued to work as a cook, with all the children still at home working too. Carrie worked in a pencil factory, Clifford was a utility man in a print shop, and "Nathaniel" was a utility man in a local bank.
Judson registered for the draft at the beginning of World War II. He gave his address as 843 Simpson Street NW in Atlanta, and he was unemployed. He signed his name as "Nathaniel Wyatt", and was described as "Negro", 6 feet tall, weighed 155 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair, a light brown complexion, and a mustache.
August 25, 1942 Judson enlisted in the Army at Fort Benning, Georgia. He was single, with three years of high school, described as 71" tall, and 140 pounds. His civil occupation was in the category of "kitchen workers in hotels, restaurants, railroads, steamships, etc."
Judson was a private in the Transportation Corps. In May 1945 he was in the hospital at Fort McPherson, Georgia. The record stated he was "discharged for medical reasons, not for a residual condition."
Following World War II, Judson moved to New York City. On April 20, 1950, he married Vivian A. Clarke in Manhattan. The newlyweds set up housekeeping at 913 Bedford Avenue in Brooklyn. Judson worked as a postal clerk at the post office, and Vivian sold advertising space for a production concern.
Judson's last residence was in the Bronx.
