Jack Marasso was born Giacomo Francesco Agostino Marasso on April 24, 1901 in Levanto, Italy, the son of Victor and Enrichetta Marasso. He had lived in Havana, Cuba, and came from there to the United States on May 19, 1939, traveling on the S.S. Oriente. At that time he stated he had a sister, Miss Anna Marasso, living at 14 V. Garibaldi in Levanto, Italy. He had an address in New York City, 61 W. 85th Street, and he worked as a waiter. His friend in the U.S. was Jacqueline David at the same 85th Street address. He stated he had $130 in cash, and $2500 in a bank account. He was described at 5' 11" tall and weighed 160 pounds.
On July 30, 1941 Jack married Delva C. Fogliano in Manhattan. The witnesses at the wedding were Rita Laboranti and Alfred Baretto.
In 1942 Jack registered for the U.S. draft, two months after America's entry into World War II. His address was 144 W. 73rd Street in New York City, and his next of kin was his wife, Delva. Jack had grey eyes, black hair, and a light brown complexion. He was employed as a waiter at the 21 Club in New York City, "one of New York's social and culinary landmarks."
In 1950 Jack and Delva were living in Queens. Jack was still working at the 21 Club, having worked his way up to an excellent position as the Captain of the dining room, with an annual income of $3000.
Jack was able to begin receiving Social Security benefits on September 13, 1966. His home from at least 1976 to the time of his death was 3406 45th Street in Long Island City.
Jack Marasso died July 12, 1992 at Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens. He was buried more than a year later, November 23, 1993, on Hart Island.
