Helga Mietzsch was born on May 5th, 1925 in Germany. She lived in Munich (München) on the Schellingstraße, where she worked as a store-keeper.
Helga was resettled to the United States in 1964 at age 38 as part of the refugee resettlement efforts following World War II. Her sponsor was the Lutheran Immigration Service (15 E. 26th Street).
Documentation indicating her refugee status on a Passenger List of Displaced Persons is maintained by the Arolson Archives International Center on Nazi Persecution (an internationally governed centre for documentation, information and research on Nazi persecution, forced labour and the Holocaust in Nazi Germany and its occupied regions.
