Eugene Seeburg was born June 12,1904, in Sinrishamn, Sweden. His birth name was Anne Marine Eugene Sjoborg. Once in the United States, he always signed his name as "Eugene Seaburg." Eugene immigrated to the U.S. in 1923, and received his first papers for naturalization soon after.

In 1930 Eugene was a lodger living at 155 W 85th Street in New York City. He stated that Swedish was his primary language, and that he was employed as a chauffeur for a private family.

On November 22, 1930, Eugene married Christine Lillian Larson in New York City. Christine was born June 14, 1907, in Mandal, Norway. The couple made their home at 54 W 87th Street in New York City. This was a handsome stone town house, with bay windows on a tree-lined street, still standing and occupied in 2023.

Eugene made at least one return trip to Sweden in 1933, he returned to the U.S. on the S.S. Hamburg, a voyage lasting from his departure on March 23 from Hamburg, Germany, to his arrival in New York City on March 31. He was listed as a "returning resident alien."

When World War II began, Eugene gave his address as 334 1/2 W 24th Street, New York City, and his telephone number was chelsea 2-9331. He does not mention his wife at this time, only "Eddie Donohue" as the person who would always know his address. Eugene was described as being 5' 10 1/2" tall, weighing 165 pounds, with blue eyes, blonde hair, light complexion, with a "scar on abdomen and behind left ear." He was employed by Savarin, Inc., located on Fourth Avenue.

At some point Christine returned to her home in Norway. She had at least two siblings there, a sister- Edith Johannessen, and a brother, Hans J Larsen. Christine died in her hometown of Mandal, Norway on November 6, 1974, and was buried in the Mandal Cemetery. The paperwork returned to the U.S. government did not mention a spouse.
