Dominick Alessio

I believe this is my “ grandfather” Dominick Victor Alessio ( one L ). He died November 3rd 2014 after completions from a hip sugery. He was sent to Riverdale rehabilitation center for physical therapy and because my family is not is blood family we were unable to identify his body and properly burry him. I say he is my grandfather because since I was a little girl he was present in my life as a grandfather. Both of my parents’ fathers where not present and he did not hesitate to take on the rule. I’m not sure how or when he came into our lives my parents both meet him when they were both young as well and he never left us until his passing. For the past 4 years my family and I have been searching for any family members we can find but it’s been very head because Dominick or “ Dom Dom “ never spoke of any family. When he passed we were told his family would be contacted and it’ll go from there , he was a veteran and has a plot in his name so we expected him to be there when we called the cemetery he was not there and no family had reached out to them. Fast forward I became Sherlock Holmes and searching everywhere I can for information on his family. We wound founding a nephew who we are in contact with. He had no idea and has been trying to help us in any way possible to get My Grandfather a well deserved memorial. Also it will be amazing to be able to visit him whenever considering we had little time to say goodbye.  It’s been hard and a lot of stops along the way but  Dominick Alessio was an honorable man and he deserves to be honored. He never let us down and always showed everyone so much love, my family and I are doing everything we can to make sure his memory stay alive. This year will make 4 years I and just want him to know how much we love and respect him till this day. He is always in our memory and will live on in our hearts forever !

Born and raised in Manhattan New York 

Dom loved ice cream cakes, law and order, going to the library and church & Sending holiday cards ( which we have started to do every year in his honor )
