Damian Kintas graduated from Fordham College, Rose Hills campus in June, 1966. I would number him among my best friends. He invited me to dinner at his mom's house in the Bronx; she was a great cook. Damian also invited me to his wedding to Dottie in 1966, also in the Bronx, and he came to my wedding in New Jersey in September, 1973 with Dottie. I visited them in their apartment in the Bronx and Damian asked me to stay in touch, but I did not. Damian helped me found the Societa Dante Alighieri on the Fordham Campus and we held parties in my apartment on Tiebout Avenue also in the Bronx. One night with nothing to do, I Googled his name and learned that he and Dottie had divorced in Harris County Texas, some time in the '80s. That same evening I discovered that he had died and been buried on Hart Island. Had he had no funeral? Why had no one claimed his body? I know that he and Dottie had a child who would be a grown man by now. I hope that he or Dottie contacts me and tells me what became of him. I feel stricken for not having stayed in touch with him; perhaps I might have consoled him. He was very susceptible to feelings of anxiety. My name is Professor James T. Chiampi and a simple Google search will reveal where I teach in Southern California.
