Charles Ellison was born on the 4th of January, 1915 in Georgia. His father was Abe Ellison and his mother was Mary Wells. Abe and Mary had married on the 3rd of December 1899 in Putnam, Georgia. In 1900, Abe stated his occupation as a farm labourer and Mary a day labourer, they were still residing in Georgia.
By 1910 the couple had five children, Lillie (8 years old), Frank (7 years old), Georgia (6 years old), Mattie M. (4 years old) and John (17 months old). Charles was born 5 years later.
In 1930, Charles was 15 years old and working for the Ware family in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It is not known if Charles ever married.
On the 10th of May, 1943, Charles enlisted in the US Navy where he served until the 5th of October, 1945.
Charles passed away on the 15th of May,1995. He is buried at Harts Island Cemetery.
