Arnold Methusalem was born June 14, 1905, in Estonia. He was a sailor, an ordinary seaman, who traveled the globe throughout the 1930's and 1940's. Some of the ships that he worked on were the Great Republic, New Zealand, Frej, and the Helvig. From the U.S. ports of New York and San Francisco he traveled to Manzanillo, Cuba, to Copenhagen, Denmark and to Yokohama, Japan. The crew manifests list him as being 5'6 and 140-145 pounds.
Arnold Methusalem died at the age of 77 on October 23, 1982, at Coler-Goldwater Memorial Hospital, and was buried on Hart Island.
