The Sad Bird: A Meditation on Hart Island is a two channel video set to music by jazz composer Fred Hersch. It follows the story of a bird in search of a lost mate an image recalled in handwritten verse by Walt Whitman in an early draft of "Sea Drift" published in later edition of Leaves of Grass.
