Please note that this database covers public burials in New York City from 1980 through December 2011 only. Over 60,500 burials are listed in the database. If you are searching for earlier and/or later burial dates, please subscribe and then ask for help with a custom search. Subscriptions are not refundable.

The burial records are transcribed from documents provided by the New York City Department of Correction. If you believe your relative is buried on Hart Island and they are not listed in the Hart Island Project database, you should contact the New York City Department of Health, Vital Statistics.
